Pitt Alum Keith Gavin Medals At International Competition

ISTANBUL, Turkey -- University of Pittsburgh alum and 2008 NCAA National Champion Keith Gavin competed at the Yasar Dogu International over the weekend in Instanbul, Turkey. Representing the United States, Gavin earned a bronze medal at 86 kg/ 189 lbs.
Gavin was a two-time All-American and a 2008 National Champion at 174 pounds for the Panthers. He was also a 2007 runner-up in the same weight class.
Representing the United States, Gavin dominated his first three matches over the weekend, winning two matches by technical fall. He outscored his three opponents 30-0. In his semi-final matchup he drew 2013 World Military bronze medalist Radoslaw Marcinkiewicz of Poland. After a tough match, he fell to Macinkiewicz, 5-3.
In the bronze-medal round, he drew fellow American Jon Reader and won the match 4-0 to earn the bronze medal.
Gavin currently competes for Titan Mercury WC and is an assistant coach at the University of Virginia.
