- Pitt fell to 16-9 overall and 5-6 in the Atlantic Coast Conference with a 69-57 defeat at Louisville's KFC Yum! Center. Louisville improved to 20-4 overall and 8-3 in the ACC.
- The Panthers used a 14-2 run to open the second half and extended their lead to 45-39 with 12:03 remaining in the game. However Louisville went on a 28-5 run over the next 10:30 to put the game out of reach.
- The loss snapped a three-game winning streak, which was Pitt's second longest unbeaten streak of the season.
- This was Pitt's fourth game against a ranked team this season and third against a top-10 team. The Panthers are 1-3 and 1-2 in those games, respectively. Both of those losses to top-10 teams are against Louisville.
- Pitt didn't allow Louisville to make a three-point field goal all night. It was the first time the Cardinals failed to make a shot from long distance in more than 23 years. The last time Louisville didn't make a three-pointer was against Wyoming on Jan. 18, 1992, a span of 787 games. This was the second time this year that a Pitt opponent did not make a three (Niagara, 11/14/14).
- Jamie Dixon dropped to 23-19 all-time versus top-10 ranked teams.
- All-time against Louisville, Pitt is 5-10, having lost the last six contests.
- For the second time in as many games, Pitt wore its all-black uniforms. The Panthers are now 1-1 in its newest gear.
- Reigning ACC Player of the Week Jamel Artis followed up his first career double-double on Saturday with a 15-point, nine-rebound performance. He has scored in double figures in the last nine games, averaging 19.6 points per game during the span. Artis has reached double figure scoring in 16 games on the year and 17 contests in his career.
- Michael Young led the Panthers in scoring for the ninth time this season, netting 16 points, including his first three-pointer of the season. It was Young's fourth straight game with at least 10 points and 15th time in the last 17 games. Overall it was Young's 20th time in double figures this year and 25th of his career.
- Entering the game, James Robinson ranked 22nd nationally with an assist:turnover ratio of 2.87. He continued to thrive, collecting a game-best five assists compared to just two turnovers. In the past five games, Robinson has 32 assists and just six turnovers, yielding a stellar 5.33 assist:turnover ratio.
- Mike Lecak made his first appearance in the past 13 games and just sixth appearance of the season, having last played against Florida Gulf Coast (Dec. 27). Lecak played a career-high 13 minutes, surpassing his former record of four minutes from last season, and grabbed a personal-best three rebounds.
- Sheldon Jeter made his first start in a Panther uniform in place of the injured Cameron Wright, who exited the game against Syracuse after four minutes.
