PITTSBURGH -- Junior Michael Young spent his first two seasons carving out a reputation as an elite rebounder and double-digit scorer for the Panthers. Now in his third season with the program, he has taken his play on the court to another level, while also evolving into a team leader.
Young enters Friday's City Game against Duquesne (7 p.m. - CBS Sports Network) as the only player in the ACC to rank among with conference leaders in points, rebounds, assists and field goal percentage. He has paced the Panthers to a 4-1 record, averaging 17.6 points, 8.8 rebounds and 4.4 assists per game.
The Duquesne, Pa., native has a pair of double-doubles and is also shooting 60.7 percent from the field on the year. As important as his play on the court, Young has also developed as a leader for a Panther team that features eight newcomers this season.
