Forys Named ACC Wrestler of the Week

GREENSBORO, N.C. - After defeating returning All-American and fourth-ranked Ryan Taylor of No. 15 Wisconsin Saturday, sophomore Dom Forys (133) of the Pitt wrestling team was named ACC Wrestler of the Week, as announced by league officials on Wednesday.

This is Forys' second ACC WOW nod and the Panthers' second of the season.

Prior to his notable win on Saturday, Forys, ranked 19th in his weight class, started the weekend by pinning Tony Recco of Edinboro in 2:21 on Thursday night. The squad went on to defeat the Fighting Scots, 24-9.

Two days later, Forys dominated Taylor in a 10-6 decision which helped Pitt claim its home opener, 25-9.

Forys is now 10-1 on the season and 5-1 in dual matches. The Pittsburgh native has already won an individual tournament title in his weight class as he took first at the Keystone Classic.

The Panthers 5-1 start this season has earned them the No. 20 spot in the USA Today/NWCA Coaches Poll this week, while Forys moved up to No. 16 among 133 pounders in the InterMat rankings.
