Racciato Collects More Weekly Honors

PITTSBURGH - After winning five consecutive matches over the weekend, junior Mikey Racciato of the Pitt wrestling team was named ACC Wrestler of the Week by conference officials on Tuesday. Racciato was also named FloWrestler of the Week and First National Bank Athlete of the Week on Monday.
The Pen Argyl, Pa., native started his weekend in his hometown on the right foot with No. 10 Lehigh on Friday. The 141-pounder faced Bethlehem, Pa., native No. 8 Randy Cruz in what fans expected to be an exciting match. Racciato did not disappoint as he came out with a 3-2 decision at Leeman-Turner Arena.
Racciato carried his momentum to the Keystone Classic on Sunday as he battled his way through four different opponents en route to an individual title. The reigning 149 pound ACC Champion defeated No. 11 Todd Preston in a 3-2 decision to claim first place and was named Outstanding Wrestler of the tournament. His efforts throughout the day led Pitt to become overall team champions with 132 points.
Racciato jumped into the rankings this week at 141 pounds, earning rankings as high as No. 10 by InterMat and FloWrestling.
