PRINCETON, N.J. – The University of Pittsburgh men’s and women’s cross country teams will participate at the Princeton Invitational this weekend in their final prep for the ACC Championship Meet.
This will be Pitt’s final meet before the Panthers head to Tallahassee, Fla. in two weeks for ACCs. Princeton is also the site of the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional Meet which is set for November 13.
The Panthers will bring their top 10 runners from both the men’s and women’s side this weekend.
Participating for the women this weekend is: Dee Dee Adams, Hillary Boxheimer, Amy Kelly, Karli O’Neill, Ariel Pastore-Sebring, Abby Peters, Miranda Salvo, Gillian Schriever, Beth Shenck and Melanie Vlasic.
The men will feature Alex Archer, Billy Caldwell, Sebastian Curtin, Ryan Hughes, Aaron Lauer, Ethan Linderman, Matt McGoey, Chris Montgomery, Chris Pastore and Wes Roberts.
Joining the Panthers and the host Tigers this Saturday will be: Bucknell, Delaware, Duquesne, FDU, George Washington, Guelph, Kent State, La Salle, Lafayette, Lehigh, Loyola, UMES, Mount St. Mary’s, Navy, NJIT, Penn, Rider, Rutgers, St. Joesph’s, Temple, Towson, UMBC and Villanova.
The women’s 6K race will start at 10:30 a.m., followed by the men’s 8K race at 11:15 p.m. This will be the second time this season the women are running a 6K race, and they will continue to run this distance for the remainder of the season (their previous races all being 5K besides the Roy Griak).
“We are expecting some good performance this weekend,” head coach Alonzo Webb said. “They are rested up after not running last weekend and this is one of the races we were looking at to compete very well. This is a big meet to solidify our spots in the region. On the men’s side, we are a better team than our ranking of 15 in the region and this is an opportunity to prove that. This is a tune-up for the ACCs and another opportunity for us to understand what championship racing is all about.
