Houston 35, Pitt 34: Post Game Notes

· In the 12th annual Lockheed Martin Armed Forces Bowl, the University of Pittsburgh football team fell to Houston 35-34 at Amon G. Carter Stadium on the campus of TCU.
The Panthers finished the season 6-7 overall, while Houston is 8-5.
ACC Player of the Year James Conner rushed 21 times for 90 yards and two touchdowns. He finished his record-breaking sophomore campaign with 1,765 yards and 26 touchdowns. The 26 touchdowns is a Pitt and ACC record, while the 1,765 yards is the fourth most in a single-season at Pitt.
Sophomore Receiver Tyler Boyd had nine catches for 112 yards to notch his sixth 100 yard receiving game of the season and the 11th of his career.
Boyd moved into 4th place on Pitt’s career receptions list with 163 catches, passing Larry Fitzgerald. He also moved into 6th place on the all-time receiving yards list with 2,435 yards. Boyd finished his sophomore campaign with 78 catches for 1,261 yards and eight touchdowns.
On Pitt’s first scoring drive of the game, the Panthers went 92 yards in 15 plays and capped it off with a 1-yard TD run from James Conner. The 92
yard drive established a new Armed Forces Bowl record and it was the third longest scoring drive by yards for Pitt this season (99 vs. Delaware, 94
vs. Iowa).
Sophomore kicker Chris Blewitt connected on a 52-yard field goal to end the first half which gave Pitt a 17-6 lead at the break. It was a career-best
for Blewitt and an Armed Forces Bowl record.
Redshirt freshman Jeremiah Taleni made his first career start at nose guard today, becoming the ninth true or redshirt freshman to earn a start this season.
