Pitt 73, Florida State 64
•Pitt improved to 12-5 overall and 2-2 in the ACC with a 73-64 home win over Florida State. Pitt is back in action on Saturday, Jan. 17 vs. Georgia Tech at 4 p.m. at the Petersen Events Center.
•Jamie Dixon won his 300th career game and improves to 300-101 all-time as a head coach in his 12th year at Pitt. It took him 401 career games to reach 300 career victories. With his 300th career win this evening, he reached the 300-win mark faster than NCAA legends Nolan Richardson (404 games), Bob Knight (407 games), Dean Smith (406 games), Eddie Sutton (406 games) and John Thompson (407 games). In terms of years, Dixon ranks tied for third all-time in achieving 300 wins in 12 seasons. Kansas’ Roy Williams won 300 games in 11 years, while Gonzaga’s Mark Few and Butler/Xavier/Ohio State’s Thad Matta won 300 in 12 years.

•Pitt improved to 8-1 at the Petersen Events Center this year. Pitt is now 201-28 all-time at the Petersen Events Center and 80-25 all-time in league regular season games at the arena.
•Senior Aron Phillips-Nwankwo provided a spark off the bench for the Panthers. The senior neuroscience major finished the day with career-highs for points (7), minutes played (12) and free throws made (3-3).
•Michael Young registered his third double-double of the year and third of his career with a team-leading 16 points and 12 rebounds. He also grabbed eight offensive rebounds. It was his 18th career double figure scoring game and 13th of the year in 17 games.
•Chris Jones totaled his second consecutive double figure scoring game with 15 points on 5-10 shooting. He also grabbed a career-high tying six rebounds and dished out a team-high four assists and also tied a career-high with 36 minutes played. It was his eighth double figure scoring game of his career/season.
•With 13 points, Jamel Artis reached double figure scoring for the eighth time this year and 10th time in his career.
•Pitt improved to 10-2 all-time vs. Florida State in the all-time series. The Panthers are now 6-1 vs. Florida State in Pittsburgh and have won six of the last seven meetings between the two schools.
