Clemson 71, Pitt 62
•Pitt dropped to 11-5 overall and 1-2 in the ACC with a 71-62 home loss to Clemson. Pitt is back in action on Wednesday, Jan. 14 vs. Florida State at 9 p.m. at the Petersen Events Center.
•Jamie Dixon drops to 299-101 all-time as a head coach in his 12th year at Pitt. He needs just one more victory to reach the 300-win plateau. When he does achieve his 300th career win, he will hit 300 wins faster than NCAA legends Nolan Richardson, Bob Knight, Dean Smith, Eddie Sutton and John Thompson.
•Pitt dropped its first game at the Petersen Events Center this year and fell to 7-1 on the season at the Petersen Events Center. Pitt dropped to 200-28 all-time at the Petersen Events Center and 79-25 all-time in league regular season games at the arena.
•Pitt was outrebounded by a 17-board margin (39-22). That represents the largest negative rebound margin in 16 years and largest negative rebound margin under Jamie Dixon. The last time Pitt was outrebounded by 17 boards was on January 23, 1999 (49-32) vs. Georgetown at Fitzgerald Field House.
•Pitt finished with only 22 rebounds on the day. That matched the lowest Pitt rebounding total this season (22 vs. Kansas State on Nov. 26, 2014) and matched the fewest rebounds ever secured in a game for a Jamie Dixon coached team. The 22 rebounds also represent the fewest ever in a game for Pitt in Petersen Events Center history (previous low was 23, two times). The 22 rebounds ranked also tied for the 10th fewest in school history. The record is 18 set three times in 1970s.
•Pitt converted a season-high 88.9 percent of its free throw attempts (16-18).
•Senior Cameron Wright scored a season and team-high 18 points after converting 8-11 field goals in a season-high 36 minutes played. Wright reached double figure scoring for the 28th time in his career and fourth time this year.
•Chris Jones finished the day with 11 points (3-6 3FG). He reached double figure scoring for the seventh time in his career/season.
•Pitt lost its first game against Clemson. Pitt is now 3-1 all-time vs. the Tigers.
