Pitt at Clemson • Clemson, S.C. • March 8, 2014

•Pitt completes its regular season with a 23-8 record on the year and 11-7 slate in the Atlantic Coast Conference. The Panthers will begin the ACC Tournament as the No. 5 seed and play at 2 p.m. on ESPNU. Pitt will face either No. 12 seed Wake Forest (16-15, 6-12 ACC) or No. 13 seed Notre Dame (15-16, 6-12 ACC).
•Pitt improved to 7-2 in its nine road overall and league games this year. It tied a school-record with the 2010-11 team with its 7-2 road record. Pitt has now claimed nine of its last 11 road games and 13 of its last 17. Furthermore, Pitt has won 10 games away from the Petersen Events Center (seven on the road and three neutral site contests).
•Pitt’s 7-2 road record ranks tied for the second best road record in the league. Upon entering tomorrow’s games, Virginia is 7-1 and plays at Maryland and Syracuse is 6-2 and plays at Florida State.
•Pitt won its 11th conference game of the year. Pitt has now totaled 10 or more league regular season wins in 12 of the last 13 seasons. Pitt has also won 20 overall and 10 league games in 12 of the last 13 years.
•Pitt won its 23rd game of the year. The 23 wins rank as the 14th most in school history.
•Pitt improved to 4-0 on the year in overtime games. It has won at Clemson (March 8), at Notre Dame (March 1), at Miami (Feb. 5) and vs. Virginia Tech (Feb. 8).
•Pitt trailed by five points with 13 seconds to play (65-60). Lamar Patterson hit a 3-pointer to pull Pitt to within two points with three seconds to go, then on the ensuing in-bounds play, tapped the ball out of a Clemson player’s hands to Josh Newkirk, who swished a short-range jumper at the buzzer. The jumper tied the score at 67-67 and sent the contest into overtime. Pitt’s five-point deficit overcome to win ranks tied for the fifth largest deficit overcome to win with less than 1:30 left in a game in school history.
•Pitt’s 16 points scored in the overtime period tied for the second most points ever scored by a Pitt team in a one overtime game. Pitt scored 20 points in overtime in its win at Notre Dame on March 1. Prior to this season, it surpassed the previous record of 16 points scored at Butler on March 21, 2012.
•Lamar Patterson led Pitt with a career-high tying 30 points. He also scored 30 points vs. Cal Poly on Dec. 21, 2013. Today, he tied the school’s career record for most games played (143). Patterson is now tied with Sam Young, who played in 143 contests from 2005-09. With his second career 30-point game, 12th career 20-point game and 66th career double figure scoring game, he led Pitt in scoring for the 18 times on the year.
•Cameron Wright finished with 16 points in the contest. Wright has now reached double figure scoring in 18 games on the year and 22 in his career. Wright also tied a career-high with four steals.
•With his 10 points and 10 rebounds, Talib Zanna registered his 16th career and 10th season double-double. Zanna has reached double figure scoring in 50 career games and 23 season contests and double figure rebounding in 21 career and 11 season contests.
•Josh Newkirk set a new career-high with three steals.
•Pitt improved to 2-0 vs. Clemson on the year and 3-0 all-time vs. Clemson.
