Pitt vs. No. 15 North Carolina, ACC Tournament Quarterfinal, March 14, 2014

*With the win, Pitt improves to 25-8 overall. Pitt advances to the ACC Tournament semifinal round against No. 1 seed Virginia at 1 p.m. ET. The game will be televised nationally on ESPN.
*Pitt improved to 2-0 in its first-ever ACC Tournament. The Panthers have not trailed in each of their two tournament games. The last time Pitt won two consecutive league tournament games, it went on to claim the 2008 Big East Championship with four consecutive victories.
*Pitt won its 12th game of the year in games played away from home (7-2 in road contests and 5-1 at neutral sites).
*Pitt has now won five of its last six games, including all five away from home.
*Pitt shot 51.9 percent (27-52) on the day. It has now shot 50 percent or better in five of its last six games.
*Pitt shot a season-low 51.2 percent (21-41) from the free throw line. Previously, Pitt’s season-low 56.3 percent (9-16) vs. Albany on Dec. 31, 2013.
*Pitt (26) and North Carolina (32) combined for 58 fouls, which ranked among the all-time top fouls games in ACC Tournament history.
*Talib Zanna led Pitt with 19 points (8-13 FG) and a career-high 21 rebounds. The 21 rebounds tied for the third-most in an ACC Tournament game (tournament record is 23). He joined NC State’s Ronnie Smith (1955 vs. Duke), North Carolina’s Lee Shaffer (1959 vs. Clemson) and NC State’s Kenny Carr (1977 vs. Maryland) on the list. His 21 rebounds were the most by a Pitt player since DeJuan Blair grabbed 23 at Connecticut on Feb. 16, 2009. The 21 rebounds ranked tied for the seventh most rebounds in school history. The record is 26 by Don Virostek at Westminster on Dec. 9, 1952. Zanna also tied a career-high with 10 offensive rebounds, which ranked tied for the third most in school history. Zanna’s 10 offensive rebounds tied an ACC Tournament record set by Virginia’s Bryant Stith vs. Georgia Tech in 1992 quarterfinals. Zanna registered his 17th career and 11th season double-double.
*James Robinson scored a career-high 19 points. It was his 16th career double figure scoring game and ninth of the year. He also tied or set career-highs for field goals made (five), free throws made (eight) and attempts (12), rebounds (six) and steals (four).
*Cameron Wright finished with 11 points, his 19th double figure scoring game of the year and 23rd of his career.
*With his 12 points, Lamar Patterson has reached double figure scoring for the 31st time in 33 games and for the ninth consecutive contest.
*Pitt improved to 2-8 all-time vs. North Carolina. It had not defeated North Carolina since March 21, 1941, a 26-20 victory in the NCAA Eastern Regional held in Madison, Wis. North Carolina defeated Pitt earlier this season, 75-71, at the Smith Center on Feb. 15, 2014.
