North Carolina 40, Pitt 35 Post Game Notes

· The University of Pittsburgh football team suffered a 40-35 defeat to the University of North Carolina on Saturday afternoon, November 15, at Kenan Stadium. The loss drops Pitt to 4-6 overall and 2-4 in the ACC. North Carolina improved to 5-5 over and 3-3 in the ACC.
· James Conner finished the game with 220 rushing yards on 30 carries and four TDs. He now has 1,562 yards this season, breaking the ACC sophomore rushing record previously held by Montel Harris of Boston College who had 1,457 yards in 2009.
· Conner also broke LeSean McCoy's sophomore rushing record at Pitt. McCoy put up 1,488 yards in 2008. This was Conner's seventh 100-yard rushing performance of the year, his sixth over 150 yards and his third 200 yard performance. It was also his third straight game with three or more touchdowns. He now has 21 rushing touchdowns this year which ties the ACC singles season rushing TD record.
· On his birthday, Tyler Boyd had five catches for 160 yards and a TD. It was his eighth career 100-yard receiving game and his third straight.
· Sophomore quarterback Chad Voytik was 11-16 on the afternoon for 218 yards and one touchdown. He added 41 rushing yards, but his fumble with :15 remaining led to UNC taking a knee to win the game.
· Both teams went over 500 yards of total offense. Pitt put up 523, while UNC had 502. Pitt is now 6-4 under Paul Chryst when having over 500 yards of offense. This was the third straight game Pitt has gone over 500 yards of offense.
· Defensively Matt Galambos tied a career high with nine tackles to lead the Panthers.
· The Panthers outgained UNC 233-36 in the first quarter and held a 308-186 advantage in that category at halftime. Pitt led 21-13 at the break.
· Wide receiver Adonis Jennings made his first career start today, becoming the fourth true freshman to start this season for Pitt.
