· In an offensive shootout between the Panthers and the Blue Devils, the University of Pittsburgh football team fell in double overtime 51-48 this afternoon at Heinz Field. The loss dropped Pitt to 4-5 (2-3 ACC) while Duke improved to 7-1 (3-1 ACC).
· Pitt is now 6-9 all-time in overtime games. This was Pitt's first OT game since a 29-26 loss in three overtimes at Notre Dame in 2012.
· The two teams combined for 1,032 yards and 99 points. Pitt gained 594 yards of offense, while Duke had 438. The Panthers are now 6-3 under Paul Chryst when gaining over 500 yards of total offense. This was the second straight game Pitt has had over 500 yards of offense.
· In the past two meetings between Pitt and Duke, the teams have combined for 2,162 yards and 212 points (106 points each). Pitt won last year's meeting in Durham, 58-55.
· Sophomore running back James Conner achieved the third 200-yard rushing game of his career, netting 263 yards on 38 carries, both personal highs. It was the 10th 100-yard rushing performance of his career and sixth of the season.
· On the year, James Conner now has 1,342 rushing yards, which rank eighth on Pitt's single-season rushing list. Conner's rushing total marks the third most after nine games in Pitt history, trailing only Tony Dorsett's senior year (1,525 in 1976) and freshman year (1,348 in 1973) nine-game totals.
· Sophomore receiver Tyler Boyd had 140 receiving yards on seven catches. It was the eighth 100-yard receiving game of his career and third of the season. With three kickoff returns for 102 yards, Boyd totaled 242 all-purpose yards, matching his career high.
· Tyler Boyd now has 137 career receptions, which moved him into seventh all-time at Pitt.
· Junior tight end J.P. Holtz had TD catches of three and 11 yards, his first career multi-TD game. Holtz now has six TD receptions for his career.
