POST-GAME NOTES
Marquette at Pitt, Petersen Events Center, January 12, 2013
Marquette 74, Pitt 67 (OT)
*Pitt was defeated by Marquette in overtime on Saturday afternoon, 74-67. The Panthers are now 13-4 on the season and 1-3 in the Big East. Marquette improves to 12-3 overall and 3-0 in league action.
*Lamar Patterson hit a game-tying 3-pointer at the regulation buzzer to send the game into overtime with the score tied 57-57. Pitt was outscored 17-10 during overtime and is now 1-1 on the season in overtime games. Pitt is 4-3 in overtime games at the Petersen Events Center.
*The Panthers lost their second home game of the season and are now 174-21 all-time at the Petersen Events Center. Pitt dropped to 69-18 all-time vs. Big East opponents at the Petersen Events Center. It also marked its second consecutive home loss. In the 10-year, 195-game history of the Petersen Events Center, Pitt has lost four straight games on one occasion and two consecutive games for the fifth time.
*Pitt shot just 50 percent (13-26) from the free throw line. The last time Pitt shot below 50 percent was vs. Wofford on March 14, 2001 (33 percent).
*Tray Woodall left the game with 16:30 left in the 1st half. He did not return to the game due to a concussion.
*Lamar Patterson scored a career-high 22 points on 7-9 shooting in 36 minutes. Patterson also converted a career-high six 3-pointers. His 6-7 3-point performance and .857 3-point percentage ranked tied for the seventh best percentage in school history.
*Durand Johnson finished with a career-high 10 points on 3-10 shooting in a career-high 25 minutes. It was his first ever game reaching double figures. The 10 field goal attempts are also a career-high.
*James Robinson played a career-high 36 minutes and scored 12 points on 4-11 shooting. It was his 4th double-figure scoring game of the season.
*Steven Adams tied a career-high with four blocked shots in the game. He also scored four points and had six rebounds.
*Trey Zeigler played a season-high 23 minutes.
*Pitt was outrebounded by Marquette 38-33. It was the fifth time this year Pitt was been out-rebounded on the glass.
*This game marked the 16th meeting between the two schools, as the series is now tied 8-8, while Marquette has won the last two meetings.
*Marquette took a 33-30 advantage into halftime. The Golden Eagles shot 61.1 percent (11-18), while the Panthers managed just 37.5 percent shooting (9-24). Marquette went 5-7 from three in the first half, led by Juan Anderson who was 2-3 from three totaling 8 points in the half. Pitt shot 3-9 from three and were led by Lamar Patterson who went 2-2 from three on the way to 7 points in the half.
*The Panthers ended up shooting 39.7 percent for the contest (23-58) and went 8-20 from 3-point range. Marquette shot 47.9 percent overall (23-48) and was 5-15 from behind the arc. Pitt shot 50 percent from the free throw line (13-26), while Marquette shot 76.7 percent (23-30).
*Pitt will travel to Villanova for their next game on January 16. The game will be televised on ESPNU at 7 p.m.
