PITTSBURGH -
The Pitt gymnastics team will travel to Michigan State on Saturday for a 7 p.m. meet at Jenison Field House in East Lansing. The Spartans will devote Saturday’s meet to Autism awareness.
The Panthers are coming off their best team score in two years as they swept last weekend’s quad meet over George Washington, Rutgers and William & Mary with a 194.550. Additionally, freshman Haley Bodenheimer was awarded with her second consecutive EAGL Rookie of the Week honor after setting three career marks and winning the beam title.
“We match up very well with Michigan State, at least on paper,” said head coach Debbie Yohman. “This will be an important test for the team — putting us on the floor head-to-head with an equal opponent and seeing how competitive we can stay through the last routine. We are again looking for half-tenths from everybody, and stressing secure landings on dismounts.”
Pitt enters the weekend with a 3-3 record overall and 2-2 in EAGL action. The Spartans are currently 3-4 on the year and 0-2 in Big Ten competition. Live scoring during the meet can be found on www.MSUSpartans.com.
