PITTSBURGH -
The Pitt gymnastics team gave back to the Pittsburgh community during the holidays with numerous outreach opportunities.
During the team's Blue-Gold Scrimmage, the Panthers collected gloves and mittens, which were donated to Pitt volunteer coordinator, Gwen Watkins, who then distributed the items.
Additionally, Pitt Gymnastics, along with university faculty and staff volunteers packed gift bags for the Christmas Day Pitt event, which is a Christmas dinner on campus for needy and homeless residents. All those in attendance were able to take a gift bag with a hat and gloves.
The Panthers begin the 2012 season on January 13 at Maryland for an East Atlantic Gymnastics League matchup in College Park, Md., at 7 p.m.
