• Serving as game captains for the day are DL Myles Caragein, WR Mike Shanahan and DB Andrew Taglianetti.
• Pitt's honorary captain for the Iowa game is Jeff Delaney, a four-year letterman at safety for the Panthers from 1975-78. Delaney holds status as one of the best safeties in school history. During his career the Panthers advanced to four bowl games (winning three) and had a combined 37-10-1 mark, including the undefeated national championship year in 1976. A two-time Academic All-American, Delaney was a 1979 draft selection of the Los Angeles Rams and later played for the Detroit, Tampa Bay and Baltimore.
• DB Jarred Holley's interception in the first quarter marked his first of the season and ninth of his career.
• QB Tino Sunseri's 66-yard TD pass to WR Devin Street marks Street's second-longest TD reception in his career. The longest was a 79-yard reception at Syracuse on October 16, 2010.
• LB Ejuan Price's second quarter seven-yard sack marked the first of his career. He collected his second sack in the third quarter.
• WR Ronald Jones threw a 30-yard TD pass to WR Cameron Saddler in the third quarter. It was the first time a non-quarterback threw a TD pass for the Panthers since TE Darrell Strong threw a 27-yard TD to LeSean McCoy against Louisville in 2007. • TE Drew Carswell picked up his first career TD on a 4-yard reception from Tino Sunseri in the third quarter.
• WR Devin Street recorded a career-high in receiving yards. His previous high was 82 yards at Syracuse in 2010.
