Jermaine Lowery Reaches Semifinals of USA Outdoor Championships

PITTSBURGH - University of Pittsburgh junior Jermaine Lowery reached the semifinals in the 400m hurdles this weekend while competing at the 2011 USA Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Eugene, Ore.
The competition featured several of the most outstanding collegiate track and field athletes in addition to many former and current Olympic members.
On Friday evening Lowery placed eighth overall and fourth among collegiate participants. He qualified for the semifinals after placing third in his heat with his second fastest career time of 50.74.
During Saturday's semifinals, Lowery ran a 51.79 and posted a top-eight performance among NCAA athletes.
Earlier this season, Lowery set his personal best time of 50.66 in the 400m hurdles at the 2011 NCAA Regionals in Bloomington, Ind. The result earned the junior a spot in the NCAA Championships, where he garnered Honorable Mention All-America accolades.
During the indoor season, Lowery notched the school best time of 1:02.81 in the 500m dash of the Great Dane Classic, placing second overall.
