Men's Track and Field Excels at Hurdles, Relays

PITTSBURGH- The Pitt men's track and field team competed at both the Sea Ray Relays and the Bison Classic this past weekend. At the conclusion of the competitions, two Panthers set career best marks while seven placed.
At the Sea Ray Relays, the men's squad was highlighted by the hurdlers and relay teams.
Sophomore Tashaun Hill set a career best in the 110M hurdles, stopping the clock at 14.26. The mark earned him a sixth place finish and the fifth best time by a collegiate participant.
In the 400M hurdles, junior Jermaine Lowery raced to a fourth place finish, crossing the finish line at 51.95.
Lowery teamed up with freshman Micah Murray and juniors Ben Hatch and Dontave Cowsette to place third in the 4x400 relay. The team finished with a time of 3:14.51.
In the 4x800, the relay team comprised of freshman Sam Negley, sophomores Kevin Hull and Wesley Washington, and junior Elliot Rhodes combined to place eighth.
At the Bison Classic on the campus of Bucknell, three individuals placed including junior Idris Kasumu (100M dash), sophomore Josiah Rupert (javelin) and senior Garrett Larkin (shot put).
Kasumu took first place in his section of the 100M Dash, racing to an 11.56 mark.
Rupert set a career best toss of 58.56m to garner first overall in flight 1 competition.
Larkin claimed second place in his flight with a toss of 15.93m.
The Panthers return to action this upcoming week when the team sends members to both the Larry Ellis Invitational at Princeton, N.J. and the Legacy Track Meet in Baltimore, Md. Both meets begin on Friday, April 22 and conclude on April 23.
