Wrestling Team Receives EWL Championship Rings

PITTSBRUGH – The 2010-11 Eastern Wrestling League regular season and postseason champion Pitt wrestling team was awarded its title rings during halftime of the Pitt-Utah football game Saturday at Heinz Field. Each student-athlete and coaching staff was introduced in front of a crowd of over 40,000 fans.
The Panthers captured their second consecutive regular season title with a perfect 6-0 record in conference matches. It was also the second straight year they had an unblemished record in the EWL.
Pitt capped its great season with its first-ever EWL tournament championship. The Panthers had six wrestlers win individual titles at the event. With their performance at the conference tournament, the Panthers had a program-best eight wrestlers qualify for the NCAA Championships.
