Two Panthers Earn Personal Bests in the Finals

CINCINNATI, Ohio—Sophomore Jermaine Lowery and freshman Tashaun Hill record personal bests in the finals, as the University of Pittsburgh men’s track and field team finished 14th overall at the Big East Outdoor Championships, held at Gettler Stadium.
Improving upon his prelims finish, Lowery placed fourth in the 400M hurdles with a personal-best finish of 51.28. His time fell below the 2009 NCAA regional qualifying standard of 52.51.
In another personal-best performance in the finals, Hill placed eighth in the 110M hurdles with a time of 14.51 seconds.
Senior Brandon Turner placed ninth in the triple jump with a leap of 14.61M, while junior Garrett Larkin threw the hammer 48.00M.
Additionally, Pitt’s 4x800M relay team placed seventh with an IC4A finish of 7:38.41, while sophomore Greg Kareis finished 11th overall in the finals of the 1,500M run.
Up next, the Panthers travel to Princeton, N.J. for the three-day ECAC Championships on Friday, May 14.
