Miller and Ijelu Record IC4A Marks

DURHAM, N.C.--Junior Teddy Miller and sophomore Folarin Ijelu qualified for the IC4A Championships with second-place finishes, as Pitt's men's track and field team competed in the first day events of the Duke Invitational, held at Wallace Wade Stadium.
Miller placed second in the 10,000M run, falling under the IC4A qualifying mark with a time of 30:55.22. Then, Ijelu qualified for the IC4A meet after he placed second in the triple jump with a leap of 14.80.
Several other Panthers qualified for the Big East Championships in their first meet of the outdoor season. Sophomore Greg Kareis finished third in the 1,500M run, while freshman Kevin Hull was sixth overall. Both qualified for the conference meet with times of 3:54.69 and 3:55.08, respectively.
Also qualifying was sophomore Jermaine Lowery, who placed fifth in the 400M hurdles at 53.85. Next, senior Brandon Turner recorded a top-five finish in the same event, posting a jump of 14.44M.
Rounding out the Big East qualifiers were junior Garrett Larkin in the hammer throw and freshman Caleb Matthews in the high jump. Larkin recorded a toss of 50.41M, while Matthews cleared 1.98M.
Events resume Saturday morning in Durham.
