Broyles Wins the 400M Hurdles

DURHAM, N.C.—Senior Brianna Broyles won the 400M hurdles on the first day of the Duke Invitational, as the Pitt women’s track and field team competed at Wallace Wade Stadium.
Broyles finished with an ECAC standard time of 1:00.82, nearly two seconds faster than second place. She was also one of six Panthers to qualify for the Big East Outdoor Championship meet.
Junior Anita James qualified for the conference meet in the triple jump, leaping out to a distance of 11.47M.
In the pole vault, junior Tory Toso recorded a Big East standard after clearing a height of 3.50M.
Junior Sarah Anderson was one of three Panthers to post Big East marks in the hammer throw. Anderson led the squad with a third-place finish of 51.26. Next, sophomore Kayla Comrie placed eighth in the same event at 47.53M, while classmate Robin Gilmore was 11th overall at 45.53M.
Events resume Saturday morning in Durham.
