Walter Ties for Third in Pole Vault

NEW YORK, N.Y.—Senior Ron Walter tied for third in the pole vault and posted an IC4A standard, as the University of Pittsburgh men’s track and field team competed in the two-day New Balance Collegiate Invitational at the Armory Track and Field Center. No team scores were available.
Walter tied for third in the pole vault after he cleared a height of 4.80M. He was one of nine Panthers to post IC4A qualifying standards this weekend.
First, the team of sophomores Dontave Cowsette, Ben Hatch, Greg Karies and Elliot Rhodes combined for a third-place time of 7:31.99 in the 4x800M relay.
Next, in the 60M dash, junior Antony Hobwana crossed the finish line at 6.89, while senior Sam Perkins went 6.97 in the same event.
Then, sophomore Jermaine Lowery recorded a 49.02 finish in the 400M dash and freshman Tashaun Hill posted a top-20 finish in the 60M hurdles (8.10).
Finally, in a non-IC4A event, the 4x200M relay team of Perkins, Hobwana and sophomores Kevin Wilbank and Idris Kasumu combined for a time of 1:29.61, finishing fifth in the event.
The Panthers will compete in the Akron Invitation on Friday, Feb. 12 and Saturday, Feb. 13.
