POST-GAME QUOTESHEET
No. 22 Pitt at No. 6 West Virginia, WVU Coliseum, February 3, 2010
No. 6 West Virginia 70, No. 22 Pitt 51
Quoting Pitt Head Coach Jamie Dixon
Opening comments:
"Obviously, I'm not happy with how we played, but congratulations to West Virginia. They deserved to win. It was 43-41 and we didn't get a rebound after that and that's where we got beat. We have some things to improve on, but congratulations to them. We have to move past this game and get ready for our next one against Seton Hall on Saturday."
On the on-court altercation:
"The players didn't really do anything and were just wrestling. They just got technicals for more verbal and it was just what they had to do. Both players handled themselves well and it was an unfortunate incident. I don't think either team is at fault, just the guys playing hard."
Quoting West Virginia Head Coach Bob Huggins
On how they won the game:
"They hit a big shot to take it back to 10 so we ran a special for KJ (Kevin Jones) and he hit a three, and then he hit another one. I was hoping he could make those shots to give us enough room to finish it out and he did."
On Pitt:
"They're good and competitive, and I think they had 24 of their 28 points in the paint or free throws, which is what we thought. We tried to stop them in the first half and then they got back in the game rebounding the ball and we just didn't do a good job keeping them off the glass."
On the fans' behavior:
"I think the fans throwing stuff out on the court was wrong. They wouldn't want the teams standing above them throwing stuff at them. You want them to be enthusiastic and they've been terrific. I love them to death, but whoever threw things on the floor is dumb. You just can't do that. You're putting people's safety at risk and it's not a good thing to do."
