*Captains for today’s game were #77 LT Jason Pinkston, #44 DE Nate Nix, #97 DE Jabaal Sheard and #31 SS Dom DeCicco.
*Pitt is now 3-0 in the Big East for the fourth time in league history, also including the 2009, 2003 and 2002 campaigns.
*The Panthers are now 12-2 (.857) at Heinz Field dating back to the final two home games of the 2008 season.
*Pitt is also now 14-4 (.778) in Big East play, dating back to the Panthers’ 13-9 victory over West Virginia on Dec. 1, 2007.
*Redshirt senior Dan Hutchins moved into sole possession of fifth place in all-time kick-scoring at Pitt with his eight points today. Hutchins moved ahead of kicker Chris Ferencik (175 points from 1995-98) to take over fifth with 183 points in his career.
*Hutchins additionally moved into the No. 10 spot in all-time scoring at Pitt, tying back George McLaren, who scored 183 points from 1915-18.
*Hutchins also had a career-long 71-yard punt. It was Pitt’s longest punt since Oct. 16, 2004, when Adam Graessle had a 79-yard punt vs. Boston College.
*Sophomore tailback Ray Graham’s 21-yard touchdown run in the third quarter gave him seven rushing touchdowns on the season and was his second rushing touchdown in the last two games.
*Jabaal Sheard’s forced fumble in the third quarter was his third of the season. It set up a 56-yard fumble return by Myles Caragein (down to the 5-yard-line), who recorded his second career fumble recovery.
*Caragein’s 56-yard fumble return is Pitt’s longest since Oct. 27, 2001, when defensive end Brian Guzek returned a fumble 80 yards for a touchdown in a 33-7 win at Temple.
*Dion Lewis’ 1-yard TD run to start the fourth quarter is his fifth of the season and 22nd of his career.
*DB Dom DeCicco’s interception in the fourth quarter marked the 10th interception of his career and his third of the season.
