West Virginia Downs Pitt 2-0

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The Pitt men’s soccer team fell to Big East foe and rival West Virginia 2-0 Wednesday night at Dick Dlesk Stadium. Pitt is now 5-5-2 on the year and 0-2-2 in Big East play. West Virginia improves to 7-3-2 and 3-1-0 in conference play.
The game remained scoreless throughout the first half.
In the 64th minute the Mountaineers gained a 1-0 lead when Ruben Garrido fired a shot from 18-yards out into the back of the goal.
With six minutes left in regulation, Shadow Sebele secured West Virginia’s lead with a second goal to give WVU the 2-0 lead. Sebele broke away from a Pitt defender, striking the ball from 15 yards out past goalkeeper Hami Kara.
The Mountaineers outshot the Panthers 16-5, and held an 11-2 advantage in corners.
Pitt will return home to Founders Field on Saturday, Oct. 16 to face Big East opponent, Rutgers. Game time is set for 1 p.m.
