Pitt Football Kicks Off Fall With Big East Media Day

The Pitt football team is closing in on its Sept. 5 season opener with Youngstown State. Prior to the first game, the Panthers will take part in numerous activities, starting with Tuesday's Big East Media Day in Newport, R.I.
Head coach Dave Wannstedt, along with tight end Nate Byham, offensive line John Malecki and defensive end Greg Romeus will be in front of the cameras at the Hotel Viking in Newport to discuss Pitt's upcoming season. Wannstedt, along members of the Pitt media relations staff, will be covering the festivities over Twitter beginning with the Big East's annual clambake on the evening of Aug. 3.
Training camp for the Panthers will officially begin Tuesday, Aug. 11 and will continue through Aug. 27 at the UPMC Sports Performance Complex. Although practices are closed to the general public, Pitt will offer exclusive coverage including daily video posted on PittsburghPanthers.com, as well as a behind the scenes look through Twitter.
Pitt's annual Fan Fest activities will be held Thursday, Aug. 27 at 6 p.m. at Heinz Field. Fan Fest is free and offers a first look at the 2009 edition of the Panthers.
