CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas—Sophomore Ashley Amistade scored Pitt’s lone run, as the University of Pittsburgh softball team dropped its game on the second day of the Islander Invitational at Cabaniss Field. The Panthers slipped to 2-6 on the year with a 4-1 loss to Minnesota.
Amistade was walked in the fourth inning and stole second base. She later moved to third and scored on two, separate, wild pitches. The run was Amistade’s second of the season and she leads the team with five stolen bases.
Minnesota (8-7) jumped on top with three runs off two Pitt errors and a lead-off walk in the second inning. The Golden Gophers added another run in the sixth with a single to left field.
