Forner Places Ninth on the 3M Board

COLUMBUS, Ohio—Junior Collin Forner earns a top-10 finish on the second day of competition in the Ohio State Invitational, as the men’s swimming and diving team moves to seventh with 114 points.
Forner finished ninth in the finals of the 3M board with a score of 309.35. His finish was the best of day for the Panthers.
Additionally, junior Zane McLain placed 18th, while classmates Jason Erdeljac and Charlie Hauser finished 20th and 23rd, respectively, in the same diving event.
Senior captain Geoff Morgan advanced to the finals of the 100 fly with an 18th-place performance in the prelims. Despite dropping a few hundredths of a second of his time, he would finish 19th overall in the finals.
Recording his best time of the season in the 100 fly, sophomore Alex McLaren touched in the top-30 at 52.12. Three other Panthers would finish next, as senior Alex Kubicek, freshman Luis Rodriguez and senior Charlie Zettel competed in the same race.
Freshman Hussein Medhat swam in the finals of the 200 free after placing 18th in the prelims at 1:41.29. Also racing in the 200 free, senior Justin Corvin placed 31st overall and sophomore Jake Van Roekel was 33rd.
Medhat, Corvin, Van Roekel and McLaren would form Pitt’s 800 free relay team, placing 12th in the final event of the night (6:56.17).
Making another finals appearance for the Panthers, junior Bobby Smith earned a spot in the C Finals of the 100 back, after he placed 19th during his morning swim. In the finals he would stop the clock at 51.87. Junior Andrzej Dubiel finished 26th in the 100 back after posting a 51.82 in the prelims.
In the 400 IM, sophomore Rousseau Kluever dropped four seconds from his seed time to place 28th at 4:06.97. Senior Jonathon Buchanan finished in the top 30 (4:07.35), while Zettel and sophomore Aidan Considine were in the top 40 of the same event.
Later, Considine was the first Panther to finish in the 100 breast, earning his best time of the season in the event at 59.60. Next, freshman Nick Sharp recorded a 29th-place performance in the 100 breast, while Morgan was 31st overall.
Action resumes at 9 a.m. tomorrow with the 200 back, 100 free, 200 breast, 200 fly, 1650 free and the 400 free relay.
