PITTSBURGH-After a weekend hiatus from racing, Pitt's men's and women's cross country teams are set to compete at the Big East Championships on Saturday, Oct. 31. Marquette is hosting the meet in Kenosha, Wis. at the Wayne E. Dannehl National Cross Country Course. The men's 8K will start at noon, while the women's 6K begins shortly after at 12:50 p.m. ET.
Sophomore Greg Kareis led the Panthers in last year's conference meet, placing 40th overall. Finishing just behind him was junior Joshua Christopher.
Junior Teddy Miller also placed in the top-50 for Pitt, in that same race.
On the women's side, sophomore Myia Johnson finished in the top-100 in her rookie season. This season, she has finished first for the Panthers in four meets, with her season-best finish coming at the Cappy Anderson Invite (18:49.50).
Additionally, freshman Alyssa Kunkel has been a factor for Pitt, as she was the first Panther to cross the finish line at the Duquesne Duals and has been the second finisher at other meets.
