Game captains for Pitt were LB #40 Scott McKillop, DB #28 Eric Thatcher, WR #81 Derek Kinder and OG #55 C.J. Davis.
QB Greg Cross scored on a 17-yard touchdown run on his first-ever collegiate play.
Cross’ touchdown marks the first touchdown Iowa has given up all season. The Panthers’ 14 first-half points surpassed the Hawkeyes’ total allowed in their first three games (eight points).
LB Greg Williams earned his first career sack in the first quarter in his first career start. Williams also recorded a second sack in the second quarter.
PK Conor Lee moved into ninth in career scoring at Pitt, hitting three extra points on the day. He now has 182 points in his career, surpassing Antonio Bryant (180 from 1999-2001) and Tom Davies (181 from 1918-21) for ninth place.
Lee also extended his perfect PAT streak for his career with three on the day – a perfect 83 of 83 dating back to 2006.
QB Bill Stull’s 6-yard TD rush in the second quarter is the first rushing TD of his career.
Pitt remains perfect in the red zone this season as the Panthers were 3 for 3 in the game and are now 10 for 10 on the year.
DL Tony Tucker forced a key fumble in the fourth quarter to secure the Pitt victory. It was the redshirt freshman’s first collegiate defensive statistic.
DB Elijah Fields made his first career start at strong safety.
TE Dorin Dickerson made the first start of his career. He began the game lined up at wide receiver.
