PITTSBURGH--The Pitt track and field teams competed in Philadelphia this weekend at the Penn Relays. The Panthers returned home boasting a handful of top-five finishers and a number of others that found themselves in the top-10 of their respective events.
Senior Kim Rorabaugh (Clymer, Pa./Purchase Line) was a standout for the women's squad as she claimed second in the hammer throw with a distance of 54.10 meters. Janessa Murphy (Malvern, Pa./Great Valley) also performed well, grabbing fourth place in the championship division of the long jump with a distance of 6.00 meters.
On the men's side, pole vaulter Ron Walter (Pittsburgh, Pa./Baldwin) helped the men's team with a runner-up mark of 4.90 in the college division of the event. Mike Wray (Philadelphia, Pa./Central) also chipped in with a seventh-place outing in the men's 110-meter hurdles with a time of 14.05.
The two teams will be back in action this weekend when they return to the City of Brotherly Love for the Big East Outdoor Championships hosted by Villanova University. Action is set to begin on Friday and continue through Sunday.
