NCAA TOURNAMENT FIRST ROUND GAME NOTES
Pitt vs. Oral Roberts,
*Pitt is riding a six-game win streak and has now won eight of its last nine games on the year.
*Pitt improved to 6-0 on the year in neutral site games on the year. It is 5-0 in games played at
*Pitt made its 20th appearance in the NCAA Tournament. It improved to 18-20 overall in those appearances and improved to 13-7 in NCAA Tournament First Round games.
*Pitt is one of only nine programs to advance to the NCAA Tournament in each of the last seven seasons. The nine schools include:
*Pitt seniors Keith Benjamin and Ronald Ramon become the seventh and eighth players in school history to appear in four straight NCAA Tournaments.
*Pitt advanced to the NCAA Tournament Second Round for the third straight season and sixth time in the last seven years.
*With his season high 23 points, Levance Fields reached double figure scoring for the eighth game in a row. It also marked his fifth career 20-plus scoring game and 45th career double figure scoring game.
*With his 14 points, Sam Young has now reached double figure scoring in 35 of Pitt's 36 games this year and in 43 of his last 47 games played. Young has now led Pitt in scoring in 25 of 36 games.
*Keith Benjamin finished with 12 points and a career-high nine rebounds. It marked his 17th double figure scoring game of the year, his 24th of his career and 11th career 5-plus rebound game.
*With his 10 rebounds, DeJuan Blair registered his 17th double figure rebounding game of his career. Blair set Pitt's freshman season record for rebounds and now has 330 this year. He surpassed Sam Clancy (327 rebounds from 1977-78). He also set Pitt's freshman season record for most field goals and now has 164 for the year.
*With his 10 points, Ronald Ramon registered his 53rd career double figure scoring game and 16th time this year. He has hit at least two 3-point field goals in each of his last six consecutive games.
*Gilbert Brown scored 12 points off the bench. It was his 11th double figure scoring game of his career. He tied a career-high with six field goals made.
*Jamie Dixon improves to 132-39 overall in his fifth season as Pitt's head basketball coach. The 132 victories tie for the third-most victories for an NCAA Division I coach after five seasons as a head coach. Here is where
