PITTSBURGH--Members of the men's track and field teams traveled to Boston, Mass., this weekend to take part in the IC4A Championships. The team brought back a fifth-place team finish, including two event titles and numerous top-five placewinners.
Pitt's two event crowns came from its two All-Americans, Mike Wray (Philadelphia, Pa./Central) and Sam Bair (Pittsburgh, Pa./Shaler/Kent State). Wray logged an NCAA provisional time of 7.30 second in the 55-meter hurdles to better the competition, while Bair's title came in the 1000-meter run after he turned in time of 2:24.13 in the finals.
Ronald Walter (Pittsburgh, Pa./Baldwin) grabbed a runner-up finish after clearing a height of 4.90 meters in the finals of the pole vault, while Eric Jones (Pittsburgh, Pa./Gateway) took fifth in the triple jump with a mark of 15.09 meters.
Wray and Bair will head south this weekend to Fayetteville, Ark., to take part in the NCAA Indoor Championships on March 15-16. Wray posted provisional meet times in the 55- and 60-meter hurdles events, while Bair qualified for the mile run.
