GAME STORYLINES
One of the nation's longest running rivalries, Pitt and West Virginia renew ties for the 101st time in the "Backyard Brawl" series. With 100 prior encounters, West Virginia is the Panthers' most-played opponent.
One of the rivalry's most memorable games occurred last year, a 13-9 Pitt victory in Morgantown. The upset knocked West Virginia, ranked No. 1 in the coaches poll, from a possible trip to the BCS title game.
Since 2000, Pitt and West Virginia have split the eight meetings. The Panthers hold an all-time 38-19 edge in games played in Pittsburgh.
The West Virginia game marks Pitt's final home contest of the year. The Panthers will honor 16 seniors who will make their final Heinz Field appearance.
