PITT-VILLANOVA POST-GAME NOTES

*Today's game vs. Villanova marked the 101st men's basketball game played at the Petersen Events Center.

*Pitt and Villanova met for the second time this season. Villanova claimed a 64-63 win over Pitt at the Pavilion on January 6, 2008. The game marked Pitt's first without injured starters Levance Fields and Mike Cook.

*Pitt improved to 12-1 at home this season and the win gave Pitt its 14^th victory in its last 15 games at the Petersen Events Center.

*Pitt improved to 92-9 all-time in the Petersen Events Center and 36-8 vs. Big East opponents.

*Jamie Dixon improved to 50-22 vs. Big East regular season competition. Additionally, Dixon improved to 122-34 all-time as Pitt's head coach. Dixon now owns a 76-9 home record in his fifth season at the helm.

*Pitt won its sixth consecutive home game vs. Villanova and improved to 27-30 all-time vs. the Wildcats in the series which began on Feb. 11, 1960. Pitt improved to 18-6 at home vs. Villanova and 2-0 in the Petersen Events Center.

*With today's victory, Jamie Dixon improved to 122-34 in his fifth season as Pitt's head coach. The 122 victories tie for the sixth most victories for an NCAA Division I coach after five seasons as a head coach. Here is where Dixon ranks on the all-time wins list after five seasons:

*As a team, Pitt had a season-high eight blocks. The team's previous best was seven, which occurred twice (at Villanova, 1/6/08; Seton Hall 1/12/08).

*Pitt allowed Villanova just 57 points tonight. The team has limited 17 of its first 21 opponents to 70 points or less in 2007-08. Since Jamie Dixon took over as head coach, Pitt has held 129 of its 156 opponents under 70 points.

*With his 10 points and 14 rebounds, DeJuan Blair notched his eighth career double-double.

*Keith Benjamin dished out a career-high seven assists tonight. His previous best was six against Seton Hall (1/12/08). Benjamin also tied a career high for minutes played with 37. He has played 37 minutes two other times this season (against Rutgers, 1/26/08; at South Florida, 1/9/08).

*Tyrell Biggs' 8-12 performance from the free-throw line marked career highs in both free-throws made and attempted. His previous highs were four makes (two times - Buffalo, 11/23/07; Louisville, 2/12/07) and six attempts (Buffalo, 11/23/07). Biggs also tied a career best for minutes played with 26. He has logged 26 minutes on four other occasions (at Cincinnati, 1/19/08; at USF, 1/9/08; against Lafayette, 1/2/08; against Buffalo, 11/23/07).

*Sam Young registered a career-best four blocks tonight. Previously, his best was three rejections against Buffalo (11/23/07). Young scored 15 points on the evening, his 20^th double figure scoring game in 21 games this year. He has also reached double figures in 28 of his last 32 games played.

*Since losing Levance Fields and Mike Cook, Pitt is 6-3. In those games, Pitt has shot 47.9 percent (242-505) from the floor and 41.9 percent (62-148) from 3-point range.

*Keith Benjamin is shooting 51.1 percent from the field (43-84) and 46.8 percent from the 3-point line (22-47) in his last nine games.

*In his nine games since taking over the point guard duties, Ronald Ramon's assist:turnover ratio is an outstanding 2.84 (54 assists, 19 turnovers).
