POSTGAME QUOTESHEET
Pitt at
Quoting Pitt Head Coach Jamie Dixon
Opening Statement:
"Congratulations to
On
"We didn't turn it over, but it was mainly our shot selection. They made some plays, and we put them at the free throw line. We talk about getting good shots at every possession, but I think we rushed it. We thought we had to score too quickly. There were plenty of possessions to get back in the game, but we realized that too late. We defended better at the end, but we can't put them at the line for 20 points."
Quoting Cincinnati Head Coach Mick Cronin
Opening Statement
"Today was a big game for us. They are a team who knows how to win BIG EAST championships regardless of players being injured, graduated, or going to the NBA. They refuse to go away. We gave them chances to go away, but they refused. They always have someone step up - like Sam Young - who made the game. We showed a lot of patience in the second half. We were determined that they weren't going to take Deonta out of the game. Our shot selection was a lot better than the other night at Notre Dame. We had a lot of contributions. I was really proud of our guys. A benchmark win for us over a team that really has been a benchmark program in the BIG EAST for the last nine years."
On Veterans Stepping Up
"Before I can get on a freshman for doing something, Marvin, John, Marcus, or Deonta say something to them. That is how it is on normal teams. You have veteran guys that don't do dumb things because they get it. Before you can say something, they've already said something to the freshmen. It has been happening for the last two to three weeks."
On Jamual Warren's Play:
"He missed practice. He got sick the day of the Notre Dame game. That is a concern of mine right now because apparently the flu is running around. Jamual is all about winning and it permeates down through the team. The young guys see what it is all about because of his personality being so strong. He played a great game besides the last two turnovers."
