Panthers Compete in 34th Paul Short Invitational

The University of Pittsburgh's cross country teams traveled to Bethlehem, Pa. this weekend to compete in the 34^th Paul Short Invitational. The men's team placed 16^th, while the women captured 25^th out of the 41 teams that participated.

The men were led once again by freshman Joshua Christopher (Irwin, Pa./Penn-Trafford) who turned in a time of 25:38, landing him in 71^st place. Christopher was followed by seniors Eric Burnett (Pittsburgh, Pa./Fox Chapel) and Curtis Larimer (Colorado Springs, Co./Palmer) who placed 75^th and 81^st, respectively.

Sophomore Lane King (Fairview, Pa./Fairview) recorded a time of 26:03 for the fourth best team time and freshman Teddy Miller (Ambler, Pa./Wissahickon) rounded out the Panthers top-five with a time of 26:10.

Senior Alexandra Briggs (Washington, Pa./Washington) paced the women's team with a 76^th place time of 22:14. Freshman Anna Yoney (Irwin, Pa./Norwin) finished a second behind Briggs at 22:15 and claimed 78^th place.

Briggs and Yoney was followed by seniors Amy Ruffolo (Wexford, Pa./North Allegheny) and Nikki Bielick (Greensburg, Pa./Greensburg Salem), who posted times of 22:38 and 23:50, respectively. Freshman June Farley (Radnor, Pa./Radnor) crossed the finish line at 23:59 to break into the Panthers' top-five.
