PITTSBURGH-The Pitt men's soccer team fought to a 1-1 tie with No. 17 USF Friday afternoon at Founders Field. The Panthers' defense, along with goalkeeper Eric Barnes, battled through two overtime periods to keep the Bulls' offense at bay. Pitt moves its record to 1-6-2 overall and 0-2-1 in the Big East while USF stands at 6-1-1 overall and 1-1-1 in the Big East.

The Bulls broke open the 0-0 game in the 39^th minute when forward Andre Mittoo hit teammate Jordan Seabrook with a breakaway pass in front of an open Panther net, who finished the play for a 1-0 USF lead.

USF controlled the ball through most of the first half, tallying 11 shots to Pitt's three. The Panthers' defense played hard, denying the Bulls' offense another score.

Following halftime, Pitt got its offensive chance in the 77^th minute when midfielder Mike McDade (Plum, Pa./Plum) notched his first goal of the season and second of his career off a penalty kick, tying the game at 1-1.

The scored remained tied through regulation and two overtime periods, as both teams failed to score. Freshman midfielder Ryan Brode (Setauket, N.Y./St. John the Baptist) came within inches of giving Pitt the win with a shot in the 108^th minute, but USF goalkeeper Diego Restrepo got just enough of his fingertips on the ball to deflect it wide-left.

Barnes (Aiken, S.C./South Aiken/George Mason) recorded seven saves on the day for the Panthers while Restrepo stopped five of Pitt's shots as the Bulls outshot the Panthers 20-8 in the game.

Pitt will return to Founders Field on Sunday to continue Big East play against DePaul in a 1 p.m. matchup before heading to Connecticut to face the nationally-ranked Huskies in a 7 p.m. game on October 6.
