Pitt football players and coaches teamed up with Mayor Luke Ravenstahl's office to help "redd up" Oakland's Dan Marino Field.
Marino Field located on Frazier & Dawson Street in Oakland is an area that the Pitt football team is familiar with; most of the players live nearby have used the field for softball games.
"Last year, a couple of times, we came out here and played softball and we saw how it was and that it needed to be touched up a little bit", said senior defensive back Mike Phillips.
The team worked with the Redd Up crew to remove the rusted fence that had originally lined the field as well as remove garbage from the bushes, paint the buildings and rake the grass. The visit to Marino Field was the football team's annual community service project coordinated through the Panther Game Plan.
