
THREE PITT MEN COMPETE AT NCAA EAST REGIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS

GAINESVILLE, Fla. - Three members of the Pitt men's track and field team traveled to Florida this weekend for the NCAA East Regional Championships. In the 1,500 meters, both Sam Bair and Tim Konoval qualified for finals, and Eric Jones competed in the triple jump.
Bair (Pittsburgh, Pa./Kent State) finished fourth in the preliminaries of the 1,500 meters with a time of 3:45.20 to qualify for finals. He went on to place ninth with a time of 3:44.85.
Konoval (Parry Sound, Ontario/Central Connecticut State) ran a time of 3:46.70 in the preliminaries to qualify for finals. He finished in 10th with a personal-best 3:45.41.
Jones (Pittsburgh, Pa./Gateway) placed 14th in the triple jump with a distance of 14.93 meters.
To qualify for the NCAA Championships, a competitor has to place in the top five of his event. At-large bids to the national meet will be determined later this week.
