
MEN'S TRACK AND FIELD COMPETES IN IC4A CHAMPIONSHIPS

PRINCETON, N.J. - The men's track and field team sent five competitors to the IC4A Championships this weekend. The meet is hosted by Princeton at William Weaver Track & Field Stadium. In the first two days of competition, the men's team had four of their five qualifiers compete with one placing in the top 10 and another qualifying for tomorrow's finals.
Senior Andy Tomaswick (Natrona Heights, Pa./Highlands) is the team's leading long distance runner, and he qualified to compete in the 10,000 meters. Tomaswick ran a time of 31:07.16 for sixth place.
In the 1,500 meters, fellow senior Tim Konoval (Parry Sound, Ontario/Central Connecticut State) finished at 3:49.45 to qualify for tomorrow's finals. He is additionally an NCAA regional qualifier, having run a season-best 3:44.24 at the Sea Ray Relays.
In the javelin, Matt Raquet (Reading, Pa./Holy Name) took 12th with a throw of 57.82 meters. He hit a season-best 48.95 at the Morgan State meet in April.
Pitt's Sam Perkins (Kent, Ohio/Kent Roosevelt) qualified to compete in sprints and was in the preliminaries of the 100 meters today. He ran a time of 10.84 for 15th place.
Tomorrow, Konoval along with teammate Eric Jones (Pittsburgh, Pa./Gateway) will compete in the final day of the championship.
