POST-GAME NOTES

*Pitt concludes its regular season with a 25-6 overall record and 12-4 slate in Big East play. Pitt is now in second place behind Georgetown (13-3) with a 12-4 record. Louisville (11-4) hosts Seton Hall tomorrow and with a win, can tie Pitt for second place.

*Pitt finished with a 71-25 record and .740 winning percentage in Big East regular season play over the last six seasons (2001-07). That record and winning percentage ranks as the best totals during that span. Connecticut (68-28, .708) ranks second over that span.

*Pitt's Big East Tournament scenarios:

1. Pitt will be the No. 2 seed if Louisville loses at home to Seton Hall on Sunday. Louisville would be the No. 4 seed in that case and Notre Dame would be the No. 3 seed since the Fighting Irish defeated UL in head-to-head competition during the season. Pitt would receive a first-round bye and play at 7 p.m.. on Thursday, March 8 against the winner of the No. 7 seed (West Virginia) vs. No. 10 seed (Villanova or Providence).

2. Pitt will be the No. 3 seed if Louisville wins at home to Seton Hall on Sunday. Pitt and Louisville would tie with 12-4 record and UL would own the tiebreaker since it defeated Pitt in head-to-head competition earlier this season. Louisville would be the No. 2 seed in that case. As the No. 3 seed Pitt would receive a first-round bye and play at 9 p.m. on Thursday, March 8 against the winner of the No. 6 seed (Marquette) vs. the No. 11 seed (either Connecticut or St. John's).

*Pitt's 12-4 Big East regular season finish ties for fourth place among its all-time best Big East regular season records. Pitt finished 13-3 three different years (2003-04, 2002-03 and 2001-02) and 12-4 in three different seasons (2006-07, 1987-88 and 1986-87). It is the second-best Big East regular season put together since Jamie Dixon took over the program four seasons ago. Pitt finished 13-3 in 2003-04.

*The loss dropped Pitt to 6-2 in Big East road games. The 6-2 record ties for its all-time best league road record. Pitt also went 6-2 in four other seasons: 2001-02, 2003-04, 1986-87 and 1987-88. Pitt concluded the year 8-3 overall in road games.

*With his 18 points and 13 rebounds, Aaron Gray registered his 32^nd career double-double and 14^th double-double on the year. It was his 38^th career double figure rebounding game and 18^th of the year. With his 32 career double-doubles, Gray pulled into a sixth place tie with Brian Generalovich (32 from 1961-64) on the all-time career double-doubles list. Gray also moved into a tie for fifth with Ricardo Greer (38 from 1997-2001) on Pitt's all-time career double figure rebound game lists.

*Gray registered a career-high tying nine offensive rebounds. He also grabbed nine offensive rebounds two other times--vs. West Virginia (March 9, 2006) and Marquette (Jan. 28, 2006). He finished with a season-high and career-high tying four assists on the evening. He also finished with a season-high and career-high tying five blocked shots. In addition, he converted 7-8 field goals on the evening.

*With his 13 points on the evening, Mike Cook registered his 17^th double figure scoring game of the season.

*With his 11 points, Sam Young has scored in double figures in four of his last five games. He also registered his 24^th career double digit scoring game and 12^th of the season.

*Levance Fields grabbed a career-high nine rebounds on the evening. His previous career-high for rebounding was eight at Auburn on Dec. 3, 2006. He also finished with a career-high eight 3-point field goal attempts.

*With its 75 points in the contest, Marquette is the only Big East team to score 70 or more points against Pitt on the year. The Golden Eagles accomplished this task for the second time this season as they registered 77 points in a 77-74 overtime win over Pitt on Jan. 21. For the season, Pitt has limited 14 of 16 Big East opponents, 17 of its last 20 opponents and 27 of its 31 total opponents under 70 points. Under Jamie Dixon, Pitt has held opponents to 70 points or less in 108 of his 129 games.

*Marquette defeated Pitt for the second time this season and third straight time. Pitt also fell to 3-5 all-time vs. Marquette.

*Pitt trailed the contest by as many as 17 points. Pitt's largest deficit was 20 points late in the second half against Louisville.

*Pitt finished the game with a season-high 66 field goal attempts. Its previous season-high was 64 attempts vs. St. John's on Jan. 27, 2007.

*Pitt finished with its second highest total of 3-point field goal attempts (25).

*Pitt finished with 19 offensive rebounds. That total ranks second to the 22 offensive rebounds pulled down at Georgetown on Feb. 24.

*Pitt finished with a season-high eight blocked shots. Aaron Gray had five, Levon Kendall finished with two and Antonio Graves had one. Pitt's previous high for blocked shots was six several times.

*Pitt outscored Marquette 41-32 in the second half and limited the Golden Eagles to 36.0 percent shooting in the second half after they hit 51.6 percent of their shots in the first half.

*Pitt outrebounded its opponent for the 23^rd time this season. It is now 19-4 when outrebounding its opponent.

*The crowd of 19,021 was the largest crowd to see a college basketball game in the state of Wisconsin. It was the third largest crowd to watch a Pitt basketball game this season.
