POST-GAME NOTES

*Sam Young finished with a career-high 21 points. He also surpassed career-highs for field goals made (10), field goals attempted (14). He also set season-highs for rebounds (7) and minutes played (31). It was his first-ever 20-point game and his 20^th career double figure scoring game.

*With his 10 points, Ronald Ramon reached double figure scoring for the 30^th time in his career.

*Pitt Head Coach Jamie Dixon improved to 97-25 all-time as Pitt's head coach. He needs just three more victories to reach the 100-career victory milestone. If he continues on his current winning pace, Dixon will rank among the all-time top-15 coaches in the quickest to reach 100 career victories category. With a win at Villanova on Jan. 29, Dixon became the first head coach in Pitt history to win 20-plus games in four consecutive seasons.

*Dixon became just the second coach in Pitt history to win two games in Morgantown. Ben Howland was the other coach. Dixon is now 2-2 in games played at WVU Coliseum. Pitt improved to 7-22 all-time in games played in WVU Coliseum.

*Pitt won its fifth consecutive road game and fifth straight Big East road game. Pitt is now 7-1 on the road this season and 5-0 on the road in Big East play.

*Pitt improved to 9-1 in the Big East and 21-3 overall. The 9-1 record marks Pitt's all-time best start in Big East regular season play. The Panthers began their 2003-04 season, the first under Jamie Dixon, with an 8-2 record after 10 league games.

*Pitt has now won four consecutive games and 11 of its last 12 games.

*Pitt limited its 21^st opponent to less than 70 points on the year. Pitt has also yielded 70 or fewer points to nine of its 10 Big East opponents and 11 of its last 12 opponents. Since Jamie Dixon became head coach in 2003-04, Pitt has held 102 of his 122 opponents under 70 points.

*Pitt held West Virginia to 47 points in the contest. It was the fourth Big East opponent to score less than 50 points against Pitt this season. The other three opponents were St. John's (46), USF (48) and DePaul (49).

*Pitt held West Virginia to 17 first half points. The 17 points were the lowest point total scored against Pitt in a half this season. Pitt limited DePaul to 18 first half points on January 10, 2007.

*Pitt limited West Virginia to 32.7 percent field goal shooting. It was the fourth consecutive opponent to shoot less than 40 percent against Pitt.

*Pitt and West Virginia met for the 172^nd time in series history. It was the first of two meetings this season between the two schools. Pitt snapped a two-game losing streak to WVU in games played in Morgantown.

*The game pitted the nation's top-two ranked teams in assist:turnover ratio. Pitt entered with a 1.58 mark and WVU entered the contest with a 1.52 mark.
