Brendon Smith Earns Big East/Aeropostale Post Graduate Scholarship

PITTSBURGH--Senior Brendon Smith was named a 2006-07 Big East/Aeropostale student-athlete for his dedication on the soccer field as well as in the classroom. He is one of only 15 male student-athletes in the conference to earn this honor and will be rewarded with $2,000 to put toward his graduate studies.

Smith (Doylestown, Pa./Central Bucks East) is a marketing major, who carries a 3.25 grade point average (GPA). He is a three-time member of the Athletic Director's Academic Honor Roll and a two-time Big East Academic All-Star.

On the soccer field, he served as the 2006 team captain for the men's squad. He was a four-year starter for the Panthers, who started all 52 career games for the Panthers as either a midfielder or defender. He has tallied five goals, five assists and fifteen points on 31 career shots.

This season, Smith started all 17 games as a midfielder, recording six points. He scored the game-winning goal earlier this season in a 1-0 victory over Big East foe Louisville. He also scored in a close 4-3 loss to UConn and tallied assists against Cincinnati and Xavier.
