POST-GAME NOTES

*Levance Fields finished with a career day. Fields set career-highs for points (24), field goals made (nine), field goal attempts (15), 3-point field goals made (three), 3-point field goal attempts (seven) and steals (four). His previous career scoring was 18 points vs. Bradley in last year's NCAA Tournament. Fields scored 16 of Pitt's 41 second half points on 5-7 second half shooting.

*Fields recorded his sixth consecutive double figure scoring game. He scored 24 points tonight, 10 vs. Florida A&M, 16 vs. Dayton, 15 vs. Oklahoma State, 10 at Wisconsin and 11 at Buffalo.

*Fields' 24 points tied for the most points scored by a Pitt player this season. Aaron Gray registered two 24-point games (vs. Oklahoma State and vs. Northeastern) on the year.

*With his 12 points, Ronald Ramon reached double figures for the sixth time this season. It was his 25^thcareer double figure scoring game.

*Pitt defeated Syracuse for the ninth time in the last 12 meetings. It has won three of its last four meetings with Syracuse at the Carrier Dome. Pitt also improved to 34-61 in its 95-game series with Syracuse. The Panthers also improved to 11-33 all-time vs. the Orange in games played in Syracuse. The matchup was a rematch of the 2006 Big East Championship game, a 65-61 Syracuse win at Madison Square Garden.

*Pitt hit nine 3-point field goals in the game. The nine 3-pointers represented its third highest 3-point output this year. Combined with its 13 3-pointers against Florida A&M, Pitt has hit 22 3-pointers in each of its last two games. It has hit 22-53 3-pointers in those two games.

*Pitt finished with eight steals on the evening. The eight steals rank as the second highest total this season.

*The game featured one lead change. Pitt grabbed the lead for good on its first basket of the second half, an Aaron Gray jumper.

*Pitt limited its 13^th of 15 opponents to 70 points or less.

*Pitt opened its 25^th year in the Big East Conference. Pitt began Big East play with the 1982-83 season ironically by playing Syracuse.

*Pitt improved to 2-2 on the year in road games.

*Syracuse was defeated in a Big East opener for the first time since the 1998-99 season.
