POST-GAME NOTES

*With one more victory, Pitt (19-3) will win 20-plus games for a school record sixth consecutive season. Prior to the 2001-02 season, Pitt won 20 or more games in only two consecutive seasons. Additionally, Pitt Head Coach Jamie Dixon will become the first head coach in school history to win 20 or more games in four consecutive seasons. Last year, he became the first head coach in school history to guide Pitt to three straight 20-win seasons. With 95 career wins, he needs five more victories to reach the 100-career victory mark.

*With his 13 points and 10 rebounds, Aaron Gray notched his 10^th double-double of the season and 28^th of his career.

*Sam Young (11 points) reached double figures for the seventh time this season and 19^th time in his career. He finished with career-highs for 3-point field goals made (2) and 3-point field goal attempts (5).

*Pitt yielded just 46 points to St. John's. It was the fewest points scored by a Big East opponent since on Pitt since the Panthers held St. John's to 44 points on Feb. 8, 2005. Pitt won that game 55-44. It was also the fewest points scored vs. Pitt since the Panthers held Auburn to 41 points in a 78-41 win on Dec. 4, 2005.

*With its 26-point win (72-46), Pitt registered its largest-ever victory over St. John's in the 50-game series. Previously, Pitt's 23-point victory over St. John's on Jan. 2, 2002 marked the largest-ever win vs. the Red Storm.

*The 26-point victory also ranked 10th among Pitt's all-time largest Big East regular season wins.

*St. John's was held to a 32.1 percent (17-53) field goal percentage. That mark ranks as the second lowest percentage registered against Pitt this season. Florida A&M shot just 31.7 percent on Dec. 30, 2006.

*Pitt finished the game with a season-low tying seven turnovers. The Panthers also notched just seven turnovers vs. Georgetown on Jan. 13, 2007. Pitt also assisted on 23 field goals and entered the game leading the nation in assist:turnover ratio.

*Pitt improved to 17-33 all-time against St. John's and to 3-0 vs. the Red Storm in games played in the Petersen Events Center. Pitt is now 12-13 vs. the Red Storm in home games. The game marked the 50^th contest in the series.

*Pitt improves to 19-3 overall and 7-1 in Big East play. The 7-1 start in Big East play matches the school's best-ever start to a Big East regular season. Pitt also began a Big East regular season with a 7-1 record in 2003-04.

*Pitt improves to 13-1 in home games this season.

*The loss improves Pitt to 77-7 all-time in the Petersen Events Center and 31-6 against Big East opponents. Pitt has also won 35 of its last 41 Big East home games. Head Coach Jamie Dixon owns a 61-7 home record in his first four seasons.
