Pitt Weekly Game Notes (Citadel)
Game Story
Pitt hosts The Citadel at Heinz Field in the first-ever meeting between the two schools.
A victory over The Citadel would give Pitt a 3-1 start for the third time in the last five years. The Panthers also started the 2003 and 2002 campaigns with 3-1 records after four games. Pitt advanced to bowl games each of those years.
The Panthers will be meeting an NCAA I-AA foe in The Citadel. Per new NCAA rules, victories over I-AA opponents now can be used for bowl eligibility every year.
Pitt has played five prior I-AA opponents and is 5-0 in those contests. The Panthers defeated I-AA Youngstown State, 41-0, last year.
