PITTSBURGH-The Pitt men's soccer team fell 2-1 to Bowling Green in a non-conference match up Wednesday night at Founders Field. The Panthers now stand at 4-8-2 overall, while the Falcons improved to 3-10-1.

Bowling Green struck first in the ninth minute of play when sophomore Justin Kim launched the ball into the right side of the net to put the Falcons up early 1-0. Freshman Jacob Lawrence received a pass from defender Kyle Williams who dumped it off to Kim in front of the Panther net.

Pitt's first opportunity to score came in the 31st minute when senior Keeyan Young (North Wales, Pa./Haverford School) fed the ball to freshman Matt Baker (Bethlehem, Pa./Bethlehem), who was charging toward the Falcon net. Baker's shot came within inches of tying the game, but bounced off the right goal post.

Minutes later, it was Bowling Green who scored yet again, pushing their lead to 2-0. Kim garnered another goal, this time on a fast break to the net with a feed from teammate Alec Perea. This marked Kim's fifth goal of the season.

With his team down by two, Young put the ball in the back of the net in the 53^rd minute to bring the Panthers within one. Junior Matt Langton (Pittsburgh, Pa./Mt. Lebanon) was breaking fast downfield with Young ahead of him. Langton dumped the ball off to Young, who turned and shot into the left side of the goal past a diving Falcons goalie, moving the score to 2-1.

This marked Young's 24^th career goal and moved him up to a three-way tie for fourth place on the Panther's all-time goals list. Young also advanced on Pitt's all-time points list, earning two tonight, and is currently tied for fourth place on this list as well with 59 career points.

Young had an opportunity to tie the game just seconds after scoring, but his header narrowly missed the goal as it sailed above the crossbar. Pitt out shot Bowling Green 12-7, but was not able to pull out a victory as all seven of the Falcons shots were on goal. Panther goalie Andy Jorgensen (Doylestown, Pa./Central Bucks East/Elizabethtown) finished the game with five saves, while Falcons goalie Paul Shoemaker stopped two.

The Panthers will be back in action on Saturday, Oct. 14 at 1 p.m. at Founders Field for a Big East match up with reigning conference champion Connecticut.
